Who are we?

The Clergy Consultation developed from a support network for gay priests founded by three Church of England Clergy in 1976 when many homosexuals still lived in a world of fear, secrecy and ignorance.

Today, with attitudes more mixed and debates more public, the Consultation continues to provide an important network of support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) clergy, as well as engaging the church in constructive dialogue. A recent members' survey highlighted mutual support  as the primary motive for joining, and currently there are over 200 members.

The Clergy Consultation is facilitated by two co-convenors (one male, one female) and a steering committee, all of whom are elected by the annual meeting.
